Digit Insurance, or Go Digit, offers two different levels of car insurance: a third party policy and a comprehensive car insurance policy. The third party plan strictly covers damages and injuries to third parties and third party property, while the comprehensive policy provides the same third party coverage in addition to protection against damages to your vehicle and yourself as the owner or driver.
The company offers cheap annual premiums, up to 20% below market average, on nearly all car makes and models, and consumers can purchase a new policy online in just minutes on Digit's incredibly smooth quoting tool. They have just a short list of add-on features available, only offer one discount, and have a small network of cashless garages, but their claim settlement rates are some of the best of any insurer we studied.
|Summary of Digit Car Insurance|
|Comprehensive policies are up to 20% cheaper than average.|
|Go Digit has an optimal 76% incurred claim rate.|
|Drivers can purchase a new policy online in just a few minutes.|
Digit Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy Highlights
Digit Insurance, also known as Go Digit, offers cheap comprehensive policies on nearly all car makes and models, but their plans are best suited for SUVs. Annual premiums for a Maruti Vitara Brezza start at Rs. 19,611, 22% cheaper than the market average in India.
The company's comprehensive policy provides personal accident insurance as a mandatory add-on for the owner or driver of the insured car, and covers against damages from both natural and man-made calamities up to Rs. 15 lakhs, as well as damages to third party property. Their plan does not protect against:
- Driving without a valid driving license
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Speeding, racing, motor trade
- Consequential damages
- Depreciation, contributory negligence
- Mechanical or electrical failure or breakdown
Digit offers just 11 add-on features to further enhance the scope of your comprehensive coverage, three fewer than the market average in India. While their add-on list is one of the shortest in our study, Digit does offer a few unique coverage features that consumers find extremely useful. For example, if you break your wing mirror while parking your car, you're able to submit a claim to have it fixed through their small repair claims add-on. Fewer than half of the insurers we analysed provide this coverage.
Go Digit is also one of just two insurers in our study to offer wear and tear coverage, mechanical and electrical failure coverage, and tyre and tube damage coverage as additional features. For nearly every car insurer in India, these items are on the exclusions list and cannot be protected against.

Third Party Plan Highlights
Digit Insurance provides a third party car insurance policy as an alternative to their comprehensive plan, if you're seeking cheaper premiums or require a reduced level of coverage. Their third party plan includes coverage for damages to third party vehicles or properties and coverage for injury or death of a third party individual as a result of an accident. Personal accident coverage for yourself as the owner or driver is a mandatory add-on.
This policy does not cover damages to your own car due to man-made or natural calamities, and you do not have the option to enhance your coverage with any add-ons. The Indian government regulates third party coverage pricing, including the policy offered by Go Digit, so all third party plans from all insurers will cost the same annually.

|1,000cc - 1,500cc||₹3,221|
Comparing Digit Against the Market
Founded in 2016, Digit Insurance is one of the newest car insurance brands in India. They’ve already caught the attention of the car insurance market, winning the country’s General Insurance Company of the Year Award in 2019. Digit has received a 4.7-out-of-5 stars on PolicyBazaar and owns a 2.75% market share, despite just four years in business.
The company's 97.8% claim settlement rate is one of the five-best of any insurer we analysed, and their 76% incurred claims ratio (ICR) indicates a strong ability to settle claims against annual premium collection. The optimal, healthy range for an insurer is 75-90%. Digit is one of just three insurers in our study to have one of the top-five claim settlement rates and ICR's, so consumers can be confident that if they need to file a claim, it will be settled in a timely fashion with few setbacks.
|Incurred Claims Ratio||76%||90%|
|Claim Settlement Rate||97.8%||94.3%|
|PolicyBazaar Star Ratings||4.7 (24 reviews)||4.2 (22 reviews)|
|InsuranceDekho Star Ratings||4.9 (155 reviews)||4.9 (167 reviews)|
One of the few drawbacks of Go Digit's insurance policies is their extremely small network of cashless garages. With the second-smallest network in our study of nearly 2,500 fewer cashless garages than the market average in India, policyholders may have a difficult time finding a convenient repair facility in their area, in case of an accident.
Online Car Insurance Platform
Digit has one of the strongest online platforms of any Indian car insurer that we analysed. Their simple approach to online car insurance has allowed them to develop a modern and convenient, step-by-step purchasing process that is easy to understand for consumers of any age.
The most helpful aspect of their website is the plan comparison chart, where they compare their two policy offerings side-by-side, so you can determine which is the best fit for your vehicle. Most insurers only offer policy documents, which are a much more complex and time-consuming read than Digit’s simple table.
Digit’s online quoting and purchasing tool is the best of any we studied. In addition to its simplicity and speed, it displays a status bar, so you know exactly how far along in the process you are and how much longer you’ve got to go before you’re insured. One of the few drawbacks of Digit's online platform is that consumers do not have the option to receive a copy of their quote via SMS, email, or WhatsApp. So, if you need more time to decide before purchasing a new policy, you'll have to re-enter all of your information into the quoting tool once you're prepared to buy.
Once insured with an affordable plan, you’ll have the ability to file video claims from your smartphone, a feature offered by only four insurers in our study. You can also upload all required and requested documents from your smartphone, directly into your claims portal. If you'd rather use a more traditional claim submission method, Digit provides the option to submit via phone or email, and they're available 24/7, even on holidays. Digit also promises fast claim settlement, and with such a strong claim settlement rate and ICR, you can take comfort in knowing not only will your claim be settled quickly, but accurately and with few obstacles.
